"Thou art called to labor in my vineyard, and to build up my church, and to bring forth Zion, that it may rejoice upon the hills and flourish. Behold, verily, verily, I say unto thee, thou art not called to go into the eastern countries, but thou art called to go to the Ohio. And inasmuch as my people shall assemble themselves at the Ohio, I have kept in store a blessing such as is not known among the children of men, and it shall be poured forth upon their heads. And from thence men shall go forth into all nations. Wherefore, go forth, crying with a loud voice saying: The kingdom of heavn is at hand: crying: Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God. Go forth baptizing with water, preparing the way before my face for the time of my coming." --Doctrine and Covenants 39: 13-15, 19-20

April 16, 2012

Hey mom and dad:
I decided to write you a great email about the some of our trips in Bryan Ohio this
past week. We tracted a lot and saw some members and also, it is very flat here.
Oh, I pulled a tree out of the ground (doing service... oh and not by
muscles more just by cutting its roots off and then pulling it out
haha). My temporary comp until Wednesday was from St. George so that was
pretty cool.  I found out I played soccer against him for all four
years... he went to Dixie so it was more like he killed me in soccer
for four years haha. Then Wednesday it was tons of driving to go get a
new comp.  My new comp is Elder Hapairai.  He is from Tahiti and Hawaii
and he is pretty cool. Also, he is a Spanish speaking missionary who
also speaks French and English and a little Japanese. Totally beats me
in languages haha.   I can barely speak English. We taught Robert
and also our Spanish investigator and set a baptismal date in May so
we are really excited for him. Pretty much I have been trying to
figure out what I am doing as a district leader.  There is a lot
more stress involved than I thought, but you know me, I don't let
stress get to me.  I just make a joke and move on. Well then the rest of
the week was going door to door knocking and talking haha. But on the
bright side I have been biking and I will continue to bike so all that
fat will be gone eventually haha.  I am enjoying the area pretty well
right now and loving the weather even more...   That was pretty much
my whole week.
How about all of you; how is everyone doing?  I was able to see
Alyssa’s pictures on her blog and it seems pretty sweet over there--
just a lot of sand and heat but still very cool.  I am very tired haha I
just noticed how tired I am all the time... but on the bright side I’m
not driving anymore so don't worry I wont fall asleep behind the wheel
haha. I am still trying to send pictures... I just have to find time
to get them and send them haha. Well I love you all hope to hear from
you all too.
Love,
Elder Ryan Furtney
